A sound is echoing through the dark,
It is the sound of breaking heart,
The cup of suffering comes your way,
All you can do is softly say,
"Oh my God, can I go on?
All that dwelled in heart is gone."
The sound of night is crippling,
Promises past bring bitter sting,
A noise that rings inside your head,
Of deafening silence, soul that's dead.
But if you listened, you would hear,
All of creation raising cheers,
And loving Father, heart worn through,
Routing for your vict'ry too.
"The battle's already been won,"
He says, "Because of selfless Son,
Who now defeated sin and death,
Now you will only have the best.
"And though the bud has bitter taste,
A promise, I will solemnly make:
Your crown of ashes, I will cast,
And make a beauty that will last.
"My presence, I will always give,
Just as long as we both shall live.
Not ever will you see a day,
When I'm not protecting your way"
So now your heart torn open wide,
Let life and love rush swift inside.
Let peaceful breeze come wafting in,
And bring life to your soul again.
Let the beauty of His love,
Allow your heart to see above,
the sound of loss, you'll hear a peace,
That speaks so softly through the grief.
Allow your heart to breathe again,
The breath that you've been holding in.
Let the dream, long perished, to grow,
into a tree with roots of hope.
Let darkness die from brilliant light,
And death be overcome by life.
Let comfort take the place of pain,
And disappointment killed with gain.
One thing I know: I'm not alone,
Because of Jesus' shattered bones.
And by His pain, He made me healed.
He is my strength, my peace, my shield.
So now we sing a song of peace,
Because all pain shall soon be ceased.
There will not be a sword or knife,
For Jesus came to bring us life.
